funny how well that goes together.. interesting that several months ago people were fearful to bring their pc tablets to the hall for fear that others would judge them for their "showy display" now to see most everyone, even the tikes, with a tablet.
i can hear those little tykes now with the veruca salt voice of the old willy wonka movie, "daddy, i want a new ipad.
get me an ipad daddy!

so, we all remember the old "special needs room request" form from the old district convention arrangement.
those with accomodations in bigger cities where the district assemblies were being held would provide a room within their homes to house brothers with nominal resources.
at times, however, where these accomodations were unavailable, the congregation itself would put up the funds to assist brothers with the cost of the room (on the list).

So now, here we are with JW.org and the need to access it in order to fully acquire wisdom. It is being promoted throughout the world as the tool to gain accurate knowledge. What about those with special needs though? Those that cannot afford the price of even a cheap tablet? Where do they go? What do they do? I say, someone should recommend a "special needs tablet request" form. The congregation Service Committee can scrutinize the individual requests, verify that the person making the request is in "good standing" without the propensity to look at "improper material" on the Internet, etc. Then, after approving the request, the form could be sent to the ORG where funds from the WWW can be used to provide this life-saving tablet to the needy bro or sis. There could be a list of "approved" tablets whose names are not in some way related to pagan rituals or who don't help subsidize Christendom.
Good idea?

I mean, when the kid grows up and walks away from the organization, they will more than likely say, "My parents didn't get me an iPad, so I couldn't access JW.org and for that reason I never made the truth my own...."
To see all these people with their tablets jumping from book to bible in PDF format...I really wonder. They have become part of the collective. They are truly becoming BORGlike.

the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.
but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.
one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.
Yep, wholeheartedly agree. People are too much defined by what they do, not who they are. Kinda sounds like something I was guilty of as a Witness. The constant judging equating spirituality with activity. Most of the "active" ones are so self-centered you couldn't expect them to be of any assistance in the event of a real emergency.
Long live window washers! They may endanger near-sighted birds, but they help the rays flow!
i haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.
i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .
i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.
Yes...the infamous "Satan's grasp." One of the things that has helped me is to recognize that independent thinking is what makes the organization tick. It is true that you and I are not allowed to think outside the realms of the "organizational thought control." However, haven't you wondered where all this new light comes from? Yes...that's right! It comes from members of the GB and writing department who cautiously sit back in their meetings waiting for the opportunity to promote their independent thinking! In other words, they must not really believe in the same system that they are part of because how can you preach something for years, decades, a century and then simply say that it has changed? If you truly believed it, then you would never question it would you? It is a ruse.
Think for yourself. Your parents fail to see that the GB have taken the lead in questioning their own beliefs. It is the epitome of arrogance for them to have acted like they humbly supported previous regimes only to make significant and might I say horrific changes to the basic belief system of JWs AFTER they took control. Now tell me, whose under Satan's grasp?

it seems every cong seems to have some guy who is 35 and never had a job or moved out of mom and dads basement.. i knew a guy who just hand out magazines at work so he would get eventually fired and could sleep in till noon everyday.
of course his elder father though he was a real matyr cause he kept losing jobs for jehovah.
i have an electrican friend who apprenticed some jw kid till he got his ticket and he quit him to pioneering.
Yeah, let's not bash on window washers...there are all kinds of people out there that make an honest living doing menial jobs, not just JW's.
I try not to bash people in general, I am sure that there are plenty out there that think that I am a loser for some reason or other. But, when there is someone whose personality and demeanor have etched your psyche like a crack in the pavement, then I guess that they would fit the bill...
Most definitely a CO that I knew years ago. He was so full of himself that he would literally force the elder body to acquiesce to his demands. He was abusive and petty. A real gem of a person and literally NOT in the hand of Christ like the so-called stars were supposed to be. In any event, ultimately, it came back to bite him. I won't say what happened as it would probably give me away. Karma is a BE-ATCH
just heard from my daughter, her husbands mother has just sent him a text to tell him his grandmother has died.
no telephone call,no visit.
his crime?
Dysfunction cannot always be blamed on this religion. Some people are just screwed up.
betsy just posted this on another thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/politics/279882/1/west-antarctic-glacier-loss-appears-unstoppable-uci-nasa-study-finds-4-feet-of-sea-level-rise#.u3inpyfdwso.
so, what does this even mean for humanity?
do you think the earth is being ruined?
Look at all the scientific propaganda written in the 70's that the ORG quoted from. True, humans are ruining the earth, but I have a feeling we will die long before it does. Nature has a way of disposing of those that affect the balance. I expect a worldwide pandemic will be a wake-up call for humankind.
i'm not sure if i believe in life after death but i thought of something that has me leaning toward that direction.
unlike other living beings, humans have a consciousness that is separate from our brain.
two prime examples of this are addiction and dieting.
Consciousness cannot exist without the brain.
do you beleive our spirit lives on in other dimensions or are we really just dead?
?.
All we know is the here and now...everything else is conjecture. Hope moves us tho believe many things. Faith is a great comforter, but not a reassurance of anything proven.
